Skype and Life

June 12th, 2009 — 3:21am

My dad just got back to Taiwan from backpacking with his friend to Cambodia and Vietnam. I’m impressed and very happy for him. I finally got to see him over Skype and catch up with my parents. I feel fortunate that they’re well, independent, and happy while we’re a Pacific ocean apart.

I can see the worries in their eyes when we were talking about the job outlook these days. After describing to them what I’ve been doing helps to release some of that stress. I told them that I need to see the recession as an opportunity to be more creative and be more motivated. That’s why Ginger and I try to respond to the situation positively with Tea Party. My trick is to keep my mind occupied, my hands busy, and my thoughts clear.

Bookbinding = Productive + Meditative

June 7th, 2009 — 3:13am

After the two crazy hot days, it finally felt like a normal Vancouver day in June with the cooling breeze. The book binding session at Grace’s was very productive yet meditative. I never knew that bookbinding could be this calming. I guess it’s because you have to be extremely focused and pay attention to every single detail.

Grace, one of the most generous people I’ve met, gave each of us two books that she worked on while she was working at Chronicle Books in San Francisco. Amazing, isn’t it?

Today’s one of the most enjoyable and relaxing days I’ve had for a long time.

Here, I’ve got more photos to share.
