About the Tea Party Blog
Tea Party is based on a shared collective attitude, in response to the recent economic downturn. As we young’uns are faced with the realities of the difficulties of employment and pressure to succeed despite the odds, it has become imperative that we all stick together in order to survive and thrive.
This is an open invitation to keep motivated in the face of discouragement, and to be actively involved in current projects and dialogues. The Tea Party Blog, an offshoot of this idea, revolves around the talk. Discussion. Not just a collection of images of cool things or interesting graphics, but an attempt to put substance back into the work that inspires us to be better.
Yes, we mean writing.
It can be as complex as a published academic article or a simple paragraph describing how a particular piece of design has inspired us. Either way, we want to know the thoughts behind images and fancy typography. We believe that this is what makes the design practice relevant and substantial, and not just a pool of images to slog through.
While we are fortunate to have the guidance and advice of such figures as Steven Heller and Michael Beirut, Tea Party strives to be more than just the awaiting audience. We have observations, too. We have life lessons to share as well. In this, we would like the Tea Party Blog be a response to the professional’s essays and articles, from the points of view of those guided and inspired by the elders or more experienced. Perhaps we might be as bold as to suggest the possibility of our voices inspiring the previous generation’s, and that we can truly start a conversation between experienced peers and hopeful colleagues.
If you are also interested in furthering the discussion, please email either Ginger or Chloe. We would love to hear from you, and if you are really into it, you can be a part of the Tea Party Blog, too.
